April 2015 Budget Plan

Sorry for the silence mid-week this week readers. It has been a heck of a week. Between a special event taking place at my full-time job, hustling on several extra freelance projects (beyond the norm), trying to get things finished up for month-end, and struggling with some horrible allergies, I just got a bit behind. But I’m back on track now and I’m hoping to work ahead some this weekend to make my life a little simpler for future times when things get hectic. (We’ll see how that goes, haha.)

Anyhow, it’s time for me to share my April 2015 budget plan with you all. Like I’ve said before when I shared my January budget, I’ve switched things up a bit and have decided to include an amount of required side income in my budget each month. I do expect to make more than my required amount each month and thus I will report at the end of each month with a TOTAL INCOME AND EXPENSE REPORT to show you all how things actually ended up. I’m calculating things for March and I will post that info next week. Just a head’s up, if you thought my February results were a bit all over the place, you haven’t seen nothin’ yet. March’s ending budget report will be interesting to compile I’m sure!

Here’s my April 2015 budget plan:

CategoryMonthly Total
Charity$10.00
Saving$20.00
Gifts$20.00
Mortgage$847.13
House Repairs$15.00
City Bill$110.00
Gas Bill$56.45
Cable$71.49
Internet$51.87
Phone$103.06
Food$120.00
Medical$20.00
Fuel$60.00
Car Repairs$15.00
Auto Insurance$184.34
Clothes and Hair$80.00
Pets$40.00
Household$20.00
Personal$50.00
Cleaning$90.00
Debt$778.50
Contacts$110.00
TOTAL$2,872.84
FT Income$2,198.04
Side Income Required$675.00
Difference$0.20

This should be the last time I have to budget $80 for getting my hair done as we’ve gotten it lightened up and it is very close to my natural color at the base now. I have kind of an accidental ombre going on, which I don’t love but I know it’ll be short-lived as we cut off more and more of the darker hair at each hair cutting appointment. In fact, at my last appointment a couple of weeks ago, we didn’t color it at all, which really helps the wallet. 🙂

You might have also noticed that I cut Crossfit out of my budget plan for April. As much as I love it, I just haven’t been good about going lately and I don’t know that that’ll change this month. I seriously don’t have time for it in the evenings and I am struggling big-time to get out of bed at my normal non-workout time (let alone getting up an hour or so earlier to work out). You all know I hate the “I don’t have time” excuse, so I guess I should call it like it is. Right now I’ve got other priorities besides hitting the gym everyday. At least I’ve realized I’m not going to go so I can quit paying for it!

I need to get some more contacts this month, so I added that line-item into my budget this month. I also hope to get new lenses for my glasses, but I didn’t add that into the budget plan as I’m not sure how much that’ll cost.

April is also the month of my birthday and I’m hoping I get treated to a pedicure, haha. 😉 If not, I might spring for one for myself as I really love them and I haven’t had one since my birthday last year.

Do you have any big plans for April? How does your April 2015 budget plan look?

I wanted to share my monthly budget plan with you to show you that you can budget and make your money work for you!

  1. Hi Kayla,

I’m confused, you said you cut out Crossfit from your budget but I still see it listed for $80. Sorry if I misunderstood what you wrote.

    1. Oh no! I totally forgot to delete that line from my table. I did cut it out, thanks for noticing my mistake!

  2. Try not to give up working out for too long. I’ve found that it really helps my mood and energy level when I drag myself to the gym 🙂

    1. It helps me too, I’ve just been struggling to find the time and motivation to get myself there lately!

  3. Oh, Happy Birthday!
I can’t believe it is already the end of another month… Guess I should get on my budget review and updates too…
Most of April will be training for my 10k race at the end of the month, and studying for my exam near the end of the month too. Not nearly as fun as pedicures and birthdays! Have a good one!

    1. Well, not every month is filled with pedicures and birthdays, haha. 🙂 I hope you still have a good month!

  4. It’s your birthday and totally worth a tiny splurge as long as it makes you happy!

I try to fit workouts in while I’m vegging with a tv show (of course this requires space in your home to move, which not everyone has), or I try to get out for a 30min-1 hour walk at lunch. Those might be good ways for you to get moving without the gym.

We’re hoping to save a lot more on groceries in April, and hopefully I’ll start picking up some writing work so we can get a little more padding in the budget.

    1. That sounds like a great plan for your finances in April. I hope you are able to pick up some writing work 🙂 I should try to workout while watching TV, I guess I just forget about it… Good thinking!
