I feel like I got a little behind these past few days as I’ve had a lot of “life” stuff going on outside of my business and blog, and to be honest I wasn’t really all that excited to write this post because after having such a kick ass month in February, March was not all that great. But, I decided to go ahead with it anyway.
March just felt like a very expensive month. I wasn’t able to make as much “extra” debt progress or put that much extra in savings either. I had quite a few big business expenses, and while those don’t directly impact my personal budget because I budget and save for my business expenses separately, it still felt like I was bleeding money in March. I’ll get into more of that in my online income report next week.
Here’s how my March turned out:
2/29/2016 – $144,310.38 all debt
$31,106.95 without mortgage
3/31/2016 – $143,278.80 all debt
$30,297.12 without mortgage
Difference – -$1,031.58 all debt
-$809.83 without mortgage
2/29/2016 – $1,403.49
3/31/2016 – $1,439.54
Difference – $36.05 Increase
Whew! I was right. Even on the personal side of things, March was kind of an expensive month. I went out to eat a couple too many times, plus I ended up having my house sprayed for bugs which I had anticipated paying for in April, but the spiders came out early. I also spent a little more on gas than I planned and I did a little bit of shopping in March too. I replaced a few things in my wardrobe as they were getting quite worn. (Mostly yoga pants, let’s be honest…)
I’m hoping April will be better in terms of unplanned spending, but we’ll see. I am glad that I put some extra toward debt in March, but I’m not sure if I’m going to meet my goal of paying off a credit card by the end of this month or not. I hope so, but it really depends on if I end up owing taxes or not at this point. I should find that out soon as I have an appointment with my accountant later this week.
How was your March?
