Well, the time has come. I’ve been talking via email and Twitter with a lot of you, my fellow PF bloggers, lately about whether or not to reveal more about myself. I’ve finally decided it’s time!

10 (Unknown) Facts About Me:

  1. I’m left-handed! It runs in my family. I have a left-handed uncle and several left-handed cousins.
  2. I’m the only oldest child in my immediate family. This may sound confusing, but let me explain. Out of his siblings, my dad is the youngest. Out of her siblings, my mom is the youngest. Out of my siblings, there’s only me and my brother, so I’m the oldest and he’s the youngest. My family tells me I have the be the responsible one since I’m the oldest ๐Ÿ™‚
  3. I’m an Aries and almost everything about the Aries personality type fits me. I am independent and a leader but also moody, short-tempered and impatient. If success is not immediate, Aries’ tend to give up easily.
  4. I went to school for Animal Science but decided not to become a vet because I didn’t want to put down kids’ beloved pets. I am a total animal lover – I have 3 dogs and 1 cat. They are like my children!
  5. My favorite color is purple but I also love yellow and teal. My kitchen is teal and everyone that comes to my house compliments me on it.
  6. I like to watch TV (Netflix mostly) at night before bed, but I can’t ever stay awake. I usually fall asleep before the opening credits are over. I’m not much better at watching movies, my dad and I always fall asleep leaving my brother and mom to watch the whole movie (and usually it was one that dad or I picked out).
  7. I am EXTREMELY competitive. I can turn anything into a competition. My brother and I raced to the front seat of the car as a child and in my haste, I shut his hand in the door, breaking 2 of his fingers ๐Ÿ™
  8. I don’t get along with my mom very well. We’ve never had a great relationship.
  9. I cheat at games! My family loves to play card games, board games and video games together, and I like to cheat. My brother sits next to me at the table and I always look at his hand in cards and he knows it but never does anything about it. It’s not my fault he’s not discreet with his cards ๐Ÿ™‚
  10. My first name is Kayla! I’m very excited to meet you ๐Ÿ™‚ When I first stated my blog, I wanted to remain completely anonymous, but now I’m okay with sharing some more about myself, but I still haven’t told anyone besides my brother about my debt and my blog.

Well, that’s it for now! I’m sure there are lots of other facts about me. If you want to know something else, holler!

What are some unknown facts about you?

It's awesome getting to know someone new, and connecting via blogs is just as awesome!

  1. I’ve never thought about #2. Both my parents are actually middle children! That’s kind of funny. I am the only child out of all my cousins. Each set has 2 – both boy and girl. I am actually the “middle” cousin as I have 2 older and 2 younger on my mom’s side.

I can also relate to #4. I’ve always been interested in working with animals, but after working at the shelter, I had to give a lot of credit to our vet tech. It killed me when people had to put their pets to sleep.

I love purple and teal, too, and now I totally want to see what your kitchen looks like. I painted my old room at my parents house a deep purple (after years of dreadful pink), and “my” new room at their place is a light teal/aqua.

I have been meaning to come out of the anonymous blogger closet for a few weeks now, I’m glad you have! I’ve always thought Kayla is a pretty name =).

    1. EM – I’d love to learn more about you too. I’m not totally “out”, but I’m getting there.

I’ll have to give you a “tour” of my house sometime ๐Ÿ™‚ Your old and new rooms both sound really pretty!

  2. Yay, Kayla! Now I don’t have to call you Shoe anymore! (even though I still might ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

Your poor brother and his fingers! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I feel sad that you don’t get on with your Mom. I would love to know more about that story. I’m sorry that she is not what you hoped she would be.

I’m a big animal lover too! Pets are the best!

    1. I know I feel bad about my bro’s fingers, but he still loves me anyhow ๐Ÿ™‚

I may share more on the blog at some point about the relationship I have with my mom, but I’m not ready yet. Glad to know you’d be interested though.

My pets are my family ๐Ÿ™‚ I couldn’t be a vet, some parts of the job would be too hard!!

  3. Yay Kayla! It is so awesome to know your name now! I really think that adds the personal touch. I feel like I already know you so much more now, from our emails and comments, just by knowing your name! ๐Ÿ™‚ Nice to know more about you!

    1. Thanks Bre! I’m glad you think it’s helped to know my name. I debated about this post for quite a while before going ahead with it.

  4. Hello Kayla – it’s so nice to know your first name! I understand and respect your choice to be anonymous but I hated not knowing what to call you. ๐Ÿ™‚ And Kayla is such a beautiful name. Loved getting to know you a bit better. I’m a daddy’s girl too, although I lost my father almost 10 years ago. So hard. I’m sorry your relationship with your mom is strained. It’s unfortunate but sometimes it’s also for the best.

    1. Shannon, I’m glad to come “out” of the anonymous blogging closet a bit. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m so sorry about the loss of your father. I know that would just destroy me and I’m dreading that day I lose my father. I hope I have a long, long time until that happens. You are so right, sometimes strained relationships are sad, but for the best in the end.

  5. Hi Kayla! Thanks for sharing these unknown facts about you, it’s really nice to read more about who you are. I’m sorry that you don’t get along with your mom, not every family lives in harmony, but it must be difficult. I’m a pet lover too, I couldn’t live without my border collie!

    1. Glad to know you enjoyed the post Hayley. You are right, every family is different and not everyone in every family gets along all the time. I didn’t know you had a border collie! How fun ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Hello Kayla! I love reading these fun facts about bloggers! You are doing such a great job with your blog. Keep up the great work! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thanks GMD! I’m glad you liked the post. It really means a lot to get compliments from you since you are one of the PF blogs/bloggers I truly look up to ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Awesome, SHNM – I mean, Kayla. :-)! K, I am left-handed. I am the oldest. I almost went to school to be a vet but knew I couldn’t handle putting animals down. I almost always fall asleep when we all sit down to watch tv, and my family gives me major grief about it. ๐Ÿ™‚ Funny that we have so much in common, although I’m not surprised. Have pity on your mom: I’d be willing to bet she had a crappy childhood and doesn’t know or hasn’t been taught how to treat others properly, or treats others badly out of some type of innate deeply-hidden fear. Not that you should put up with any crap from her, but realize she’s likely a bit messed up if she’s that mean to people.

    1. Wow Laurie! We do have a lot in common ๐Ÿ™‚

Those are some very interesting and well thought out conclusions about my mom and why she behaves the way she does. I will try to do better about being considerate of her in the future.

      1. I hope I didn’t sound critical: I didn’t mean to. It’s just that, after 46 years of dealing with the assholes in my life, I’ve learned that I’m much happier, and their actions affect me much less, when I view them from a point of pity for how messed up they must be. Do it for you, Kayla: you deserve peace and happiness. ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Kayla has a might nicer ring to it than “shoe” ๐Ÿ˜‰ Very good to “meet” you! I always wanted to be a vet when I was a kid too. Our kitty, Patrick was diagnosed with end stage renal failure last week and we had to put him down on Thursday after 4 days in the kitty “ICU”, it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. Eric and I are both ultimate animal lovers and treat our pets like our kids. The whole experience made me think that maybe I need to realign my career with my passion, pets.

    1. Nice to “meet” you too! Oh no! I’m so sorry you had to put your kitty down ๐Ÿ™ I hope you find a way to align your passion and your career.
