Have you ever thought about starting a business, but didn’t know when you’d find the time? Many of us have been in that position before (including me!). It’s hard knowing what to balance and when to do what, especially if you’re doing it all alone.

However, the biggest issue I notice when people are first starting a business is that they have no accountability. They’re doing everything on their own, and that gets exhausting fast.

One of the most important factors in your success when building a business is having people in your corner supporting you!

That’s one of the reasons why I created $10K VA.

I wanted to give people the opportunity to be around other people that understand the ins-and-outs of being a VA. I wanted us to have a community of virtual assistants that just “get it.”

With that, I’ve been able to meet some really awesome virtual assistants, including Kerri.

Not only does she work full-time, she’s also building her website and business from scratch. Here she is to tell you about her VA business success story in her own words.

Hi, Kerri! To start off, tell us a bit about you.

The best part about me is sharing that I am a Mom to four amazing children that my husband and I have been blessed with to raise. My family is my world. We live on a farm in rural Kansas where we raise wheat, corn, and cattle, and our children also raise goats and donkeys.

I have worked in education for well over 20 years and enjoy the impact I have been able to make in our community working and volunteering. I enjoy reading when I have spare time and am a die-hard Harry Potter fan. I also love dogs and am partial to those that are crossed with a poodle. My current pup, Skye, is a toy Aussiedoodle full of puppy energy. I also enjoy a good motivational quote to help keep me on track each day.

Have you had any struggles with starting your business?

I am just ten days into going through the program. So far, my website is up and going. I have also created a few blog posts and sent my site out to a few friends to critique.

I am currently working full time so my biggest challenge right now is the time commitment. However, $10K VA is very easy to follow, and I am very excited at the process as I keep pushing forward. I can’t wait to build this up!

How did $10K VA help you and your business?

When I first started $10K VA, I received clear and easy to follow guides to keep me going. The Facebook groups are nice for accountability. I also enjoy all of the email support and communication you provide.

I can’t wait to have a 1-on-1 coaching session with you. Offering those at a discount for students like me is a nice perk!

What lessons have you learned and how did you use them to your advantage?

I’ve learned that there are so many options as a VA. I hadn’t even dreamed of them all! There is so much that you can do with the skills you already have. Narrowing down the services I would offer was my biggest challenge. But now I’m well on my way!

What is the biggest thing you’ve learned so far that you want to share with others?

To take everything one step at a time. I started to feel overwhelmed when I was getting my website set up. But when I broke it down to individual tasks, it wasn’t as bad as when I worried about the entire finished project. I was able to knock out quite a bit and I am very happy with the results.

Would you recommend $10K VA to others who are just getting started?

Absolutely! It’s been super easy to follow and very helpful on my virtual assistant journey.

What are your goals for your business?

My biggest goal is to establish a few clients to begin my journey of working at home. My biggest motivation is to be more available for helping with the family farm while still being a source of cash flow. I can’t wait to get to that point!

Where can people find you if they want to connect?

You can find me in one of two different ways at the moment.

If you’d like to check out my website and/or contact me, you can go to

If you’d like to hire me as a virtual assistant, you can also shoot me an email at kerri @ (but without the spaces).

Note: We separate emails to protect our VAs from as much spam as possible! Please remember to remove spaces if you plan on emailing Kerri!
