I’m well aware of the fact that it is now Wednesday and it’s been several days since my fabulous weekend, but I’m still on a high from it! Last Thursday evening I worked diligently to make sure that all of my blogging deadlines had been made, laundry and dishes were done at my house, and I packed my bag for my weekend away. Because I worked hard to have this all done ahead of time, I could leave town directly from work Friday without a care in my mind until my return on Sunday afternoon. πŸ™‚

After arriving at my BFF’sΒ house Friday night, we had a pretty uneventful evening. We chatted and sipped wine in our PJ’s and then went to bed. Oh, and I confessed to her and her hubby about my blog, my interest in PF, my freelancing, and my debt. The only thing I haven’t broken down and given them yet is my web address… It’s only a matter of time now. At least I know she will be a great person for me to talk to IRL about my struggles and will maintain confidentiality until I’m ready to reveal my blog to everyone.

Saturday was the highlight of the weekend. It was a busy, busy day. We started off the day with my BFF taking my by to see her future home (they are closing on their house next week) and then we did a little shopping. Don’t worry, I was very good. I only spent money I had already budgeted for a few items at the pet store and on a few Christmas gifts for my family. I did no un-budgeted spending and spent nothing on myself (other than food).

After a delicious lunch at my fave pizza place, we went tailgating before our alma mater’s home football game. It was a fun time!

Here is a pic of me and my BFF:

Now, here’s the funny and best part of my weekend. Last week I was working on a project for Cat and was checking out some of her past posts on Frugal Rules. I’m a little bit embarrassed to say, but I hadn’t really checked out John’s site in detail before. (So many PF blogs, so little time!) But, when I was over there last week, I saw his powercat pride showing through via his photos of himself and his family. (Go K-State!)

I was in total shock when I emailed him to see if he was in fact wearing the symbol of my alma mater, Kansas State University. I’m still hoping I didn’t come across as a psycho! πŸ™‚ Luckily, he emailed me back and said that he did go to school there and would be back at his old stomping grounds for the football game (which I was also going to!). Long story short, I got to meet John (and his lovely wife) in person and I even asked for a picture!

Meeting John was amazing! It felt so good to finally meet another PF blogger. It really made me feel more connected to the community, and we even nerdedΒ out for a few minutes, talking all about PF, blogging, and freelancing. Plus, he and his wife are such nice, easy-going people. I think I could’ve talked to them all night. πŸ™‚

After an eventful Saturday, we slept in pretty late Sunday before going to brunch and then I headed for home. It was a fun weekend away!

Here is my estimated weekend spending:

Pets: $32

Gifts: $72

Food: $90 (includes a meal I treated my BFF and her hubby to)

Gas: $70 (there and back)

Total: $266ish

I’d say that’s a pretty successful weekend!

  3. Yay for photos! Yay for meeting other bloggers. Sounds like a great weekend. I’m trying to write my recap for last month but can barely find the time, so I think you are doing just fine with timing. Glad you are getting more comfortable with blogging and slowly revealing who you are!

    1. Yes! As I get more and more comfortable, I reveal more and more about myself. I still can’t reveal EVERYTHING about myself, I wouldn’t want my employers to find my blog right now…

  4. That’s awesome you got to meet John! I love all the purple – it’s one of my favorite colors as well. Glad you finally shared a picture, but I totally understand not wanting to share too much. I used to have nightmares where my bosses found my blog!

    1. Haha, those sound like bad nightmares! I worry about that sometimes too, but it’s getting better. πŸ™‚

  5. “I’m still hoping I didn’t come across as a psycho!” Lol, not at all Kayla! It was great to get a brief chance to meet you – I just wish we would’ve had longer to chat – but at least it was because we had a great game to be at. πŸ™‚ Glad to hear you had a great weekend and Go State! πŸ™‚

    1. Lol, I was so excited to meet you that I was more than a little keyed up πŸ™‚ Maybe we can meet up before or after a game again sometime. πŸ™‚

  6. So nice to see you and glad that you got to meet up with John! He’s one of the first PF bloggers I emailed with a dumb question and he was so nice in his response. I feel like I’ve met him already! πŸ˜€

    1. Yes, it was amazing to meet him in person. Really made blogging feel more “real” if that makes any sense.
